Abstract

842,212. Radio receiving sets. PICCININI, A. July 14, 1958 [Oct. 15, 1957], No. 22450/58. Class 40(5). A car radio is separate from the loudspeaker but includes a self-contained ferrite rod aerial, being made small enough - by the use of transistors - to be fixed behind the windscreen or other window so as to avoid the screening effect of a metal car body. It may be combined with the driving mirror 7, Fig. 1 (also Fig. 2, not shown), the tuning and volume control knobs 5, 6 being at either side of the mirror and the whole supported from the top of the windscreen by an arm with a universal joint, 2. In another embodiment, the receiver is enclosed in a circular box 8, Figs. 3, 4, and is attached to a window by means of a rubber sucker 14 which also forms the licence holder. Yet another embodiment (Figs. 5, 6, not shown) takes the form of a rectangular box located to the rear of the windscreen and supported by a permanently attached bracket from the instrument board of the car.
