841,896. Lathe-details. WICKMAN Ltd. July 2, 1958 [July 19, 1957], No. 22889/57. Class 83 (3). A work-steady device for lathes &c. has at least two steady rollers e (one only shown), which have a small amount of axial freedom on axes which are inclined to the rotational axis of the work. When the tool c carried in the box a commences cutting, lands e<SP>1</SP> on the steady rollers engage the work, forcing them back, away from the work, and thus increasing their lateral pressure on the work. On reversal of the tool motion, the steady rollers are freed from the work.
