840,871. Machine-tool details. VERWALTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT DER WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. July 23, 1958 [Aug. 31, 1957], No. 23637/58. Class 83 (3). A machine-tool comprises a device 4 actuated by a gear 2, for measuring the travel of a part, and an error-correction device having two mechanically-detected cams 8, 9, connected to the gear and to a common correction-member 10, re-acting on the measuring-device. A rack 1 travels with the machine-part and turns the gear 2 to rotate a mechanical, optical or electrical measuring-device 4, such as a rotary transformer or potentiometer. The cam 8 represents errors in the gear 2 and rotates therewith. The cam 9 represents errors in the rack and is geared down accordingly. The two cams act on the common lever 10 to adjust the position of the casing of the measuring-device through levers 14, 19. The shaft 6 of the cam 9 actuates a coarse measuring-device 7. The rack 1 may be made in sections or replaced by a sectional screwed spindle. The lever 10 may be raised out of contact with the cams by linkage, or magnetically, until it is desired to take a measurement.
