A gas burner comprises a perforated flameholder block 4 mounted in the top of a horizontal mixing chamber supplied with a gas/air mixture by a tube 6 and provided with a drain hole 13 for draining off liquid and greases which may drop from food supported above the flame-holder block 4, the drain hole being so positioned relative to the inlet for the gas/air mixture that a slight negative pressure exists at the drain hole. The drain hole is located at the lowest point of the inclined bottom 2 of the mixing chamber adjacent the inlet thereto of the mixture tube 6 ; the latter projects above the bottom 2. The block 4 is made of ceramic material and the holes therein are closely spaced and extend vertically. A baffle plate 15 extends horizontally across the mixing chamber and has apertures 18 near its edge. The air supply to the tube 6 is adjusted by a control sleeve 12. Gas is supplied by a pipe 11 ; alternatively the pipe 11 supplies a liquid fuel which is forced through an orifice at the end of the pipe 11. Two burners as described are mounted on brackets 22 extending inwardly from a frame 21 having further brackets 23 for supporting a wire grid 24 at selected height above the burners. A throw-away cylinder of L.P. gas is mounted in a wire cradle on either side of the frame. Specification 821,532 is referred to.
