A centre-post record changer of the alternate finger type has lower and upper supports 1, 9 operated directly by a member 7 and indirectly through a spring 13 respectively. The transition from Fig. 1 to Fig. 3 serves to release the lowest of the stacked records, while the axial approach of the members 1, 9 possible in the absence of a further record to be fed, allows a spring-loaded member 11 to rise sufficiently to contact a switching member 15. This transfers the pickup arm moving mechanism to its " return to rest " phase, whereupon a switch, incorporated in the pick-arm rest, switches off the record changer.
