Abstract

A metal element, for example of sintered bronze, which is to be heated and used for cutting or severing thermoplastic material, is impregnated with a lubricant such as a silicone oil so that the element, when heated to a temperature beyond the fusing temperature of the material, may be moved into and out of contact with the material without the material adhering thereto.
