Abstract

838,860. Rail pads. MIDWEST RUBBER RECLAIMING CO. July 2, 1958, No. 21194/58. Class 104 (2). In a rail track in which rails and sole plates are secured to sleepers by spikes, an arched pad is placed concave side downward on the sleeper and is flattened between it and the sole plate. The pad 1 is of substantially uniform thickness and is of arched conformation both widthwise and lengthwise, the curvature along the lengthwise and widthwise centre lines being greater than that along the corresponding edges 3 and 5 respectively. The pad is constructed of cord layers 7 with layers 9 of rubber between the cord layers and at the faces of the pad, the rubber layers being thin relative to the cord layers and the individual cords of each layer being oblique to the edges of the pad and to the cords of adjacent layers.
