Abstract
804,622. Model railway track. HOPF, G. A. Jan. 18, 1957 [Feb. 3, 1956], No. 3432/36. Class 132(3) A base for receiving and locating sleepers of model railway track is formed from sponge resilient material, preferably a synthetic resin, and has depressions 2 for fitting snugly around the sleepers. To produce an appearance of track ballast, the material of the base is appropriately coloured and is bevelled at 4. When double or multiple track is to be constructed, only the outer edges of the base are bevelled. The base may have adhesive applied to its undersurface for securing it to an operating surface. The depressions may be formed in one operation by a tool comprising a plurality of spaced heated plates each of a size corresponding to the size of a sleeper. To cater for sharp bends in a track, the base material may be curved during manufacture. When the sleepers are connected by ties, the depressions may be shaped to accommodate them. Foam rubber is also specified for the base material.
