Abstract

Solid polypropylene is stabilized against oxidative degradation by mixing the finelydivided polymer with a petroleum ether solution of a diarylamine, substituted in one of the aryl groups by an aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing at least two carbon atoms and removing the solvent by evaporation or steam distillation. A mixture of diarylamines claimed in Specification 687,532 may be used in an amount between 0.1 and 5% by weight, and a thin sheet of the composition shows improved resistance to degradation at 150 DEG C.
