The build-up of static electricity in a belt or sheet made of material of relatively low conductivity by the provision as a printed pattern of a controlled leakage path of higher relative conductivity and having continuity in at least one direction. The leakage path may be printed on one of the abutting interior faces of a built-up material comprising a laminated carcase and a cover. The ink or paste to be printed may contain conductive carbon, graphite or metallic powder, together with a binder and plasticizer. If desired, the carcase may be coated with polyvinyl chloride, the openwork pattern may be printed thereon and the normal outer polyvinyl chloride layer applied thereto.
