Abstract
<PICT:0837455/III/1> Apparatus for coating a surface with a jellifiable material comprises two vats containing slow-setting compositions having resin bases, the two compositions forming a quicksetting material when associated with each other, two guns for spraying the compositions, the axes of the guns being inclined towards the surface to be coated and meeting at a point above the said surface a conduit connecting each vat with its respective gun, and means for permitting relative movement between the surface and the guns. As shown, an endless horizontal chain conveyer 10 progresses in the direction of the arrow F. Plates forming a surface to be coated are positioned at station 11 and pass through station 12 for the spraying of the resin composition, station 13 in which the resin sets and station 14 where they are removed. At station 12 a carriage (not shown) provided with two spraying guns 17 and 18 reciprocates along guide-rails across the direction of the arrow F. This carriage and the conveyer are connected through suitable transmissions with a common power unit. The axes of the two guns meet at a point P above the conveyer. The guns are connected through flexible pipes with separate feeding vats (not shown), containing under pressure resin compositions that are slow-setting in themselves but form a rapid setting mixture. Each of these compositions may comprise a polyester resin and styrene, one may also include methylethylketone hydroperoxide and the other cobalt octoate. Station 13 includes a tunnel 21 surrounding the conveyer and heated by electrical resistances 22.
