Abstract

836,894. Crossover circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 26, 1956 [Sept. 29, 1955], No. 29392/56. Class 40 (4). [Also in Groups XL (b) and XL (c)] A first amplifier is connected to second and third (transistor) amplifiers via a cross-over network so that the second amplifier amplifies signals above a prescribed frequency and the third amplifier amplifies signals below said frequency, the network comprising a condenser C1 in series with the path to the first amplifier and a resistor R1 in series with the path to the third amplifier, the resistor having a value lying between the output resistance of the first amplifier and the input resistance of the other amplifiers. The path to the second amplifier 2 accordingly comprises a series condenser C1 and a shunt resistor R1 so that only the higher frequencies are passed while the path to the third amplifier 3 comprises a series resistor R1 and a shunt capacitor C1 so that only the lower frequencies are passed. A greater slope (e.g. 12 db per octave) may be obtained by adding further resistors and capacitors, for example as shown in Fig. 5 in which R”R1”R2”r and R1C1=R2C2=rC3=1/2##0 where R and r are the output and input resistances respectively of the transistors and f0 is the cross-over frequency.
