Abstract
836,025. Sawing. CONTINENTAL MACHINES Inc. Aug. 13, 1956 [Jan. 30, 1956], No. 24747/56. Class 145. Means for applying coolant to a power band saw comprises a tube 14 which is provided with a longitudinal slit 15 for the reception of the saw. The tube is attached to a support 13 by a clamp 12 ahead of the work zone. The slit 15 extends upwardly from the lower end of the tube to accommodate the full width of the saw, and is increased in width on the side nearest the work zone by notches 21. The lower end of the tube is covered by a hinged cap 18 held in the closed position by a spring thus allowing the saw to be inserted into the slot, and, the upper end is connected by a hose 17 with the outlet of a coolant pump. In operation the liquid coolant is fed to the tube 14 so that it maintains it filled and continuously covers the saw with coolant across its entire width ; the coolant is also directed upwardly into the gullet of the teeth by deflection from the cap 18.
