[Also in Groups XVII, XVIII, XXIX and XXX] A device for attaching a collapsible container 11, e.g. a sack, to a discharge shoot comprises, in combination, a deformable pneumatic tube 13 as in Specification 803,992 for gripping the inside of the container, a plurality of liquid bellows 12 which are connected with each other and with a gauge and arranged to be compressed by the weight of the container 11 so that the gauge gives an indication of this weight, and a valve for controlling the flow into the container and consisting of a resilient tube 4 adapted to be deformed inwardly by pneumatic pressure supplied to a connection 10 in an outer, metal tube 1. The valve is closed automatically under electrical control when the container is filled to a predetermined weight, and automatic control means may be provided whereby the operation of an electric switch initiates a cycle of operations consisting of inflation of the tube 13, opening of the valve, closing of the valve and operation of a warning signal when the container is full, and exhausting of air from the tube 13. The weighing mechanism may comprise helical springs instead of bellows.
