Abstract
835,922. Cleaning tubes. CROWTHER, H. A. H. Jan. 20, 1958 [Feb. 27, 1957], No. 6619/57. Class 99(2). Tube-cleaning apparatus comprises an elongated carrier 1 and one or more stiff or rigid cleaning rings 7 looosely mounted and sustained by resilient means 8 about the carrier. The carrier member may be a multi stranded cable or it may comprise a straight rod or consist of a coiled strip whether wound around a stranded or plain core or not. The cleaning means may be arranged at each end of the carrier member. The portion of the shank about which the springs and cleaning members are mounted may be plain. The stepped sleeve 10 may be used as a broach for cleaning smaller tubes. The end core may be detachable but it is generally preferred to fix it in position if desired with the aid of a plastic seal. The apparatus is especially for cleaning rubber and like flexible tubes for conveying milk. The screw threads 2 may be cut directly in the outer surface of the cable.
