Abstract

835,500. Animal feeding appliances. ELT, L. G., and ELT, J. H. Dec. 10, 1958 [Jan. 20, 1958], No. 1917/58. Class 5(2). A feeding appliance, particularly for use by poultry, comprises a hopper 1 which may be either tubular or conical in shape, supported above a trough 2 which may or may not be formed with a conical portion 3 in its base, in such a manner that the height of the hopper above the trough may be adjusted to vary the outlet throat 7. A guide element in the form of a rod 5 is fixed to the trough and extends through apertures 10 and 11 in cross members 8 and 9 secured to the hopper, the guide element being embraced by a ring 15 formed at one end of a bolt 13. The bolt passes over a bracket 14 and through the wall of the hopper and is formed at its other end with a screw thread for engagement by a wing nut 16. Tightening the wing nut brings the guide element 5 into abutment with the edge of the hole 11 and thereby locks the hopper in the required position of adjustment. As shown in Fig. 3, the bolt may be moved by means of a handle 18 eccentrically pivoted in a slot formed at the outer end of the bolt.
