The barrel of a mincer is provided with an internal spiral flute which is of decreasing pitch 9 from its inner end and then merges into a constant pitch 10 for the rest of its length. The throat 5 of the feed opening 3 is squarish but has one side 6 parallel to the rib of the feed worm 1 to shear off lumps of meat and fits so close to the feed worm 1 as to prevent feedback of the mince.
