Abstract

<PICT:0835295/III/1> <PICT:0835295/III/2> <PICT:0835295/III/3> Hydrogen peroxide is decomposed in a gas generator (see Group XII) by passing it through a catalyst pack comprising two stacks 122, 123, Fig. 2, of silver-plated gauze separated by a perforated wall 124. To increase the life of the pack the upstream stack 122 is relatively heavily plated, silver stripped from its gauzes during decomposition being deposited on the lightly plated gauzes of the downstream stack 123. The external face of the pack container is cooled by contact with the hydrogen peroxide as it flows from the conduit 135 to enter the container at its perforated end 125.
