Abstract

An "air curtain" type of respirator for use in dust-laden atmospheres has downwardly directed nozzles in a hollow annulus which is mounted on the user in such a way as to provide a curtain of air which completely surrounds the head. The annulus may be mounted on the brim of a hat or helmet. If desired, an angled nozzle may be provided which directs a stream of air directly towards the noise or mouth and a further connection may convey air to the interior of the helmet to cool it.
