834,605. Packaging. CARPENTER, R. G., KING, R. G., and GREAVES, T. W. Sept. 16, 1957 [Sept. 28, 1956], No. 29134/57. Class 94(1). Products are packaged in a tray or on a card by placing a sheet of heat shrinkable film over the product so that its margins extend beyond and below the edges of the card or tray and applying heat to these margins to shrink them into gripping contact with the card or tray. The portions gripped may be coated with thermo-setting adhesive, if desired. A tray 10 containing the product and with the film 16 in position is fed by belts 22-24 past hot air blowers 20, 21 which shrink the film margin on to the tray. The package then passes beneath a hot air blower 51 shrinking the upper surface of the film to remove wrinkles &c. The upper belts and blowers are adjustable for various sizes of package. In lieu of the belts 23, 24, individual holding down rings 52 may be used on each package.
