834,190. Pulsators. SEPARATOR A. B. Oct. 3, 1958 [Nov. 22, 1957], No. 31626/58. Class 84. [Also in Group XXIX] In a pneumatic pulsator that produces equally long vacuum and pressure periods and is provided with two channels subjected to the vacuum and pressure variations, one being under pressure when the other is under vacuum and vice versa, there is inserted into each channel a valve designed to give greater resistance to flow of gas in one direction than in the other to render the vacuum and pressure periods at the point of application unequal. The valves may be as shown in Fig. 3, in which a channel 7 has an enlarged portion 6 at the end attached to the pulsator, this enlarged portion containing a ball 5. On the application of pressure and vacuum periods the ball is blown into and out of the reduced portion, its movement being limited by a stop 11. The valve thus offers a greater resistance to flow during pressure periods than during vacuum periods as indicated by the size of the gaps 12 and 8.
