Abstract
834,036. Typewriters. SIEMAG FEINMECHANISCHE WERKE G.m.b.H. Oct. 15, 1956 [Oct. 24, 1955], No. 31265/56. Class 100(4) A typewriter for controlling holepunching equipment e.g. strip-punches has a keyboard interlock control movable into three positions wherein (1) those keys of the typewriter are locked which do not have a corresponding International Telegraph Alphabet symbol i.e. a digit or sign (2) those keys are locked which do not belong to the letter series and (3) all keys of the typewriter are free but the connection to the hole punching equipment is disconnected, The interlock comprises a rotatable cylinder 9 to which is attached two locking combs 12, 11 and a pin 13 for opening electrical contacts in piston 3 of the interlock control. A case-shift key 1, e.g. FIGS KEY is operated to position the comb 12 in locking condition by means of crank 2, moving a shift lever 8 to the left and causing end 8b to engage a catch 10a on the cylinder 9 to rotate it. A second key e.g. for LTRS, is depressed and through a crank 2a<SP>1</SP> the shift-lever 8 is moved to th right and extension 8a engages catch 10 and rotates cylinder to position the locking comb 11 below the key-levers. A detent 16 engages notches in the cylinder to locate it. The displacement of both combs and the opening of contacts 14 to disconnect the hole punching equipment is effected by a manual control on an extension of the cylinder 9.
