Abstract

833,652. Trailer over-run brakes. ATKINSON'S AGRICULTURAL APPLIANCES Ltd. Jan. 10, 1957 [April 25, 1956], No. 12650/56. Class 103 (1). In an over-run brake for trailer vehicles, a tow-bar 3 is hollow and extends forwardly of the trailer and a brake-operated rod 15, extending within the tow-bar, is linked to an eyepiece 11 which is mounted on verticallyspaced horizontal rollers 8, 7 and adapted for engagement by a coupling member on a tractor vehicle; resilient means 13 thrusting the actuating-rod 15 in the direction of brake application to automatically operate the brake mechanism when the tractor is braked and the eye-piece 11 is consequently relieved of pulling forces. The tow-bar 3 is also provided with a skid or other ground-engaging member 17 to prevent the tow-bar contacting the ground when not in use.
