Abstract

833,166. Unreeling. GEOFFROY-DELORE S.A. May 29, 1958 [May 31, 1957], No. 17163/58. Class 83 (4). Wire is unreeled from a coil thereof by a pulling force which draws off successive loops from the coil, means being provided to apply a twisting force to the wire, after it has issued from the coil, in a direction tending to open or spread out said loops. Wire 1 from a coil in a container 2a having an axial core 4 around which the coils are looped, is pulled upwardly through a funnel-shaped guide 5a and orifice 6 therein around a pulley 14 and over an idler pulley 7 on to which it is pressed by a belt 8. The pulley 14 is mounted in a support carried by a tubular shaft 13 rotated about the vertical axis of the wire by gearing from the pulley 7 so as to twist the wire. The pulley 7 may have a brake 15. When the coil in casing 2a has been unreeled a coil in a casing 2b, the end of which has been secured to the end of the wire in the casing 2a, begins to unreel through a funnel-shaped guide 5b connected to the guide 5a by parallel walls 19.
