Abstract

833,009. Windows; building elements. HEALEY, J. Jan. 2, 1958 [Jan. 24, 1957], No. 2564/57. Addition to 794,864. Classes 20(3) and 87(1) A light-transmitting building element comprises a pair of transparent closure members 1, 2 secured at the ends of a cylindrical sleeve 3 of asbestos cement &c. which is encased in concrete 4, the diameter of the outer surface of the concrete casing tapering from the mid-point of its length towards both ends. The sleeve 3 may engage the outer edge of each member 1, 2 as shown or it may be fitted in a circular slot in the face of each member, Fig. 2 (not shown), the joint being sealed by mastic or adhesive tape 9. The concrete casing may stop short of the ends of the element to form annular recesses 5, 6 as shown in the upper part of Fig. 1.
