Abstract
The invention comprises vinylic tin compounds of formula ViaR1ySnX4-(y+a) wherein Vi is a mono-valent vinylic radical, R1 is an alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic radical, X is a halogen atom, a=1, 2, 3 or 4, y=0. 1, 2 or 3 and (y+a) has a value from 1 to 4. They may be prepared by reacting a vinylic magnesium chloride complex of formula Vi(MgCl)xnQ where Vi is a vinylic radical, Q is a cyclic ether (both as in Specification 792,537), x is 1 or 2, and n is an indeterminate small number of the order of 1 to 3, with a compound of formula R1ySnX4-y wherein X is a halogen atom, R1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon radical and y is 0, 1, 2 or 3. Specified vinylic radicals include vinyl, 1 - cyclohexenyl, 4 - methyl - 1 - penten-2-yl, 2-propen-2-yl and isocrotoyl. Numerous examples are given. Specification 777,158 also is referred to.ALSO:Polytetravinyl tin is prepared by reacting a solution of vinyl magnesium chloride-tetrahydrofuran complex in tetrahydrofuran with tin tetrachloride (Example 8).
