Abstract

<PICT:0831461/III/1> <PICT:0831461/III/2> A bench structure comprising a main support unit, which may be fitted with services such as electricity, gas or heat for use in a laboratory, a table unit, means provided on one edge of the laboratory unit for locating the position of said unit relative to the main support unit and a plurality of second locating means provided at different heights on the main support unit for joining the table unit to the main support unit but precluding relative vertical movement between the table unit, means for securing the table unit to the main support unit when the locating means is engaged with the respective co-operating means on the main support unit. Thus, in Fig. 1, a table top 34 is attached to the main support unit by means of a locating means 34a which consists of a flange and by means of rods 43 which are bolted to the main support unit at 47. Support is also achieved by the struts 52 which are adjustable as is shown in Fig. 5 (not shown). The table can be adjusted at different levels and as an alternative to the table top, racks and other laboratory fittings may be adjusted upon the main support unit, e.g. the table, as shown in Fig. 6.
