Abstract

A chemical engineering pilot plant assembly is claimed which comprises several plant units and pipework which can be assembled in different ways to undertake a variety of chemical processes on a small scale. The plant units include a freestanding pressure vessel with a removable cover in which flanged passages are provided to be piped up to other selected plant units in a chosen process circuit, a freestanding support frame being provided to which any plant unit, which is not itself freestanding, can be fixed for piping up as necessary. In addn. to the pressure vessel the plant units pref. include a packed distillation column. a bubble-cap tray column and a condenser; pref. also, the vessel is fitted with a motorised agitator and the other plant units include a free-standing filter.
