Classes 97(1) and 98(1) A viewing attachment for a viewfinder on a camera, particularly a television. camera, comprises a vizor through which. the image on the camera viewfinder may be viewed, mounting means for said vizor whereby relative angular displacement between the vizor and the plane of the viewfinder image may be effected, and optical means interposed in the light path between the eye piece of the vizor and the viewfinder image by means of which the image seen through the vizor always appears substantially normal to the line of sight despite relative inclination between the vizor and the plane of the image. As shown, a casing 1 with an aperture 2 for engaging electronic viewfinder tube 3 has a further aperture 4 through which extends a vizor 5 (constructed of two parts joined by a strip 5b) which is mounted to swing through the aperture 4 from the position X to position Y. The optical system comprises a fixed mirror 7 at 45 degrees to the face of the picture tube 3 and a mirror 8 mounted on an angle bracket 9 which is connected via gears 10, 14 and a quadrant 16 to the vizor 5, so that rotation of the latter is accompanied by rotation of the mirror 8 through half the angle. Mirror 8 is mounted on gear 10 by a screw 13 passing through a slot 12 in the bracket 9, so that by loosening screw 13 the mirror may be adjusted independently of vizor 5. The aperture 4 is sealed by roller blinds 20 sliding in channels 21 and each attached by leather hinges 25 to shutters 22a, 22b which slide in grooves 23 to cover the apertures 5d on either side of the vizor 5. The magnifying lens 26 may be inserted in the light path, prisms may be used instead of mirrors and levers instead of gear wheels.
