A spoked cycle or like wheel for use with a tubeless tyre 10 comprises a hollow section rim having spaced radially inner and outer base walls 13, 12 extending between thick-walled tyre retaining flanges 11, the spokes heads 36 being anchored only to the inner wall 13 and the outer wall 12 being uninterrupted, except for an inflation valve fitting, to form the radially inner boundary of the air chamber of the tyre. Figs. 1-3 show a rim formed by a strip of hollow-section light metal having its ends buttwelded together at 18 and to a filling piece 19 in the space getween the rim walls 12, 13.- The outer wall 12 is completely closed except for a valve aperture (not shown) and the inner wall is formed with spaced circumferential slots 16 each terminating at one end in a spherical spoke-head seating recess 15 and at the other end in a hole 17 large enough to permit passage therethrough of the spoke head, and also of the tool used for milling the recesses 15 during manufacture. In an alternative arrangement the recesses 15 are punched into the wall 13. In each case the seatings 15 are provided at that end of the slot 16 appropriate to the setting of the associated spoke and to the crossing arrangement of the spokes. Figs. 6, 8 and 10 show an arrangement wherein each spoke nipple 31 is anchored in a seating 34 in a separate anchoring member 32 of dished rectangular shape which can be passed through an opening 33 in the rim wall 13 and then seated in the opening 33 as shown in Fig. 8. Each aperture 33 has a semi-circular portion at one end to. receive the seating 34 of the member 32, the said end being that appropriate to the setting of the spoke.
