Abstract
830,449. Fluid flowmeters. HOBSON Ltd., H. M. Nov. 19, 1957 [Dec. 10, 1956], No. 37703/56. Class 40 (1). A rate of mass flow indicator comprises a monostable multivibrator triggered by pulses from a monostable flip-flop circuit actuated by impulses from a turbine in the flow path applied to the grid of the normally non-conducting section V1. A meter is connected so as to measure the average current in the anode of this section and a potential, whose value varies in accordance with the density of the liquid whose rate of flow is to be measured, is applied to the normally conducting section V2 via a circuit V3 to control the length of time the multivibrator remains in its unstable state when triggered and so make the reading proportional to the rate of mass flow of the liquid. The circuit may be used with the flowmeter of Specification 798,508 to indicate total flow. Specifications 788,798 and 801,001 also are referred to.
