Heading G1N, A fluid flow meter comprises a flexible strip 1 (Fig. 1) which is deflectable by for example a flow of air perpendicular to its surface, whereby the resistances of strain gauges 3, 4 are caused to vary in proportion to the deflection and hence to the air velocity. The strain gauges may be connected in the arms of a bridge circuit Fig. 2 (not shown) and in operation the resulting unbalance output voltage is a measure of the fluid velocity. To increase the sensitivity of the strip, its portion which is exposed to the fluid stream is bent into a U-shape to make it more rigid, except in the region where the strain gauges are mounted, thus concentrating all the deflection upon this region. The strip may be provided with an oil filled damper 6.
