Classes 52(1), 52(2), 52(3) and 52(5) [Also in Group VII] A sleeve formed in arcuate segments for mounting on a solid or tubular column can serve as a foot or castor attachment, a mount or terminal ornament or for supporting rods, tubes, or other fittings. The column has a pair of opposed circumferential cups 13, 16, Fig. 1, which receive the ends of the segments 14,15, which have concave seatings 23 on the column, and the cups can be clamped, as by a nut 17, against an abutment 12 to secure the parts. Some or all the segments may be formed with sockets 18 to receive rods or tubes for making table underframes or like structures or can carry radial feet 43, 43<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 10. The nut 17 can have an extended foot portion 40, Fig. 8, with a rubber cap 41 or a castor mounting, it can also be modified to carry an axial screwed socket whereby short sections of a column can be coupled and platforms 46, 47, Fig. 10 on the sections can support a table top or undershelf or fittings such as umbrella clips and a drip tray in a hall stand, Fig. 11, in which a bulbous terminal sleeve has sockets 48 to receive coat pegs 49. The column can form the pedestal or side pillars of a seat or table and the table top can be secured by a flanged washer 77, Fig. 21, and a screw 78, and in the case of a sectional table top the abutting sections can be coupled by the washer.
