Abstract

827,911. Handle-bar control mechanisms. SOC. D'APPAREILS DE CONTROLE ET D'EQUIPEMENT DES MOTEURS S.A.C.E.M. April 1, 1958 [April 5, 1957], No. 10462/58. Classes 79(5) and 136(1) In a motorized cycle in which two separate control levers 14, 15 are provided for the control of the brake and of the gas supply, the gas control lever 15 is arranged in such a manner that a portion of it is situated in the path of travel of the brake control lever 14, so that when the brake is applied the lever 14 will entrain the lever 15 and reduce the supply of gas, but when the brake is released the lever 14 will not impede the path of travel of the lever 15. The lever 15 is grooved at 15a to form a slideway for the rounded end of the lever 14. A rod 13 connects the lever 15 to an element 10 which controls the supply of gas to the engine cylinder 6. In normal running the element 10 is held in its full gas supply position by a spring 26. To reduce speed the user presses on the lever 15 to reduce the cross-section of passage at right angles to the element 10. To slow down rapidly the user presses on the lever 14 to act directly on the brake and indirectly on the gas supply.
