827,895. Veterinary appliances. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. May 29, 1958 [June 13, 1957], No. 18646/57. Class 81 (2). A semen-collecting device comprises a sheath and a collecting chamber, both in contact with a common heating jacket. In one form described the appliance has a slighty flexible tubular body 1 of nylon or similar material and the sheath 10 extends from within a rigid tube 4, attached to the end wall 3, to the open end of the body. A collecting device, such as a glass tube 15 in a holder 14, is placed in the further end of the tube 4 and retained by screwing a head 13 on to a threaded extension 12. Water or other warming fluid is introduced into the space around the sheath through an orifice closed by a screw plug 17, and its temperature may be indicated by a thermometer 23 having a dial 21 visible through a window 24 and through the head 13 if this is of transparent material. Preferably a cushion device 11 is fitted at the entrant end of the appliance and, if desired, the collecting tube may be set radially to the tube 4.
