827,777. Removing articles from moulding presses. BRITISH INDUSTRIAL PLASTICS Ltd. April 23, 1958 [April 26, 1957], No. 13444/57. Class 87(2). Moulded articles are removed from a moulding press of the flat bed type by a power operated stripping plate movable into the press "daylight ". Once in every cycle of operation of a press having platens 1 and 2, two reciprocable stripping plates 11 cooperate with upper and lower moulds 3 and 4, and collect the moulded articles from the ejector pins 6 and 8 of cavities 5 and dies 7 ; said plates being slotted at 13 to avoid. said pins. The drive of the plates 11 is provided by horizontally disposed hydraulically operated jacks 17, each having a piston 16 of such length that a rack 14 attached thereto turns a lever 25 by means of a pinion 20 through about 180 degrees at each stroke. Each lever 25 has pivotally mounted thereon a block 26 slidably mounted in the grooves 27 of a guide member 28 which is connected to the plate 11 by a bush 29 slidable on a rod 30 which ensures that the plate moves linearly with respect to the press. The length of each lever 25 is half the distance travelled by the plate 11 into the press. Each stripping plate and drive mechanism is supported on a cross beam 19 which is connected to vertical supports 44 which are rotatable so as to vary the height of the plate 11 with respect to the press.
