Abstract
827,003. Stencilling processes. ASSOCIATED TRAPINEX Ltd. Jan. 3, 1958 [Jan. 9, 1957], No. 858/57. Class 100(2) , A method of screen printing comprises applying through a screen bearing an image, on to a temporary support, a viscous printing composition comprising a dispersion of very finely divided thermoplastic polymer of high molecular weight in a plasticizer therefore, thereafter heating the printed record until the applied dispersion is conyerted to a coherent plastic film, and thereafter separating the printed layer from the temporary support as an integral unit or together with a second temporary support or a permanent support. The thermoplastic material is a polyvinyl plastic, e.g. polyvinyl chloride having a particle size of 0.1-100 microns diameter, and. the plasticizer may be dioctyl phthalate. Further, to reduce, viscosity, an organic solvent may be included if necessary. The composition is applied by normal screen printing methods on to a support of metal, glass, ceramic or thermoset resin and then heated to a temperature of 150‹-160‹C. to form a coherent plastic film which may be stripped from the support. Alternatively the film may be coated with a pressre sensitive adhesive. and a second support superimposed. The second support is then stripped, together with the film, from the temporary support. The second support may be permanent or may itself be temporary as when the film is to be subsequently transferred to a further surface. Specification 825,238 is referred to.
