In a fluid-mixing valve the inlet valve members are controlled by a plate 10 tiltable about the line of intersection of the end surface 17 and an inclined face 16 of a sleeve 14, the angular position of which is adjustable by a hand lever 15 to vary the relative proportions of the mixed fluids, while the rate of flow is determined by the inclination of the plate 10 as adjusted by a screwed spindle 20 fitted with a handle 21. As shown, the valve comprises hot and cold water inlet valves 6, 7 and outlet valves 8, 9 controlling delivery to a bath and shower respectively; for delivery to the bath sleeve 14 is rotated until the hinge line for plate 10 is disposed across outlet valve 9 at the angle appropriate to the desired temperature, and the rate of flow controlled by spindle 20, while for delivery to the shower the hinge line is disposed across outlet valve 8. An adjustable screw 23 limits the maximum opening of the valves, and also prevents their falling out if the cover 13 is removed. Sleeve 14 is pressed against plate 10 by a spring 18 within cover 13. In an alternative arrangement, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), only a single outlet is provided, thus avoiding the fitting of outlet valves, while reference is also made to a further arrangement for use with hot, cold, and iced water. The lever 15 may be modified to perform also the function of handle 21; thus it may be screwed into sleeve 14 in such a manner that by rotation about its own longitudinal axis it may operate an axial plunger to vary the inclination of plate 10, Fig. 5 (not shown), or it may be pivotally secured to sleeve 14 and the axial plunger operated by movement of the lever about the pivot, Figs. 6-8 (not shown).
