Abstract

826,663. Surface scraping machines. BROCK, G. Feb. 27, 1957 [Feb. 27, 1956], No. 36744/58. Divided out of 826,662. Class 107 A snow plough or like surface scraper for attachment to the draw-bar of a motor vehicle comprises a mould board, as described in Specification 826,662, mounted on and angularly adjustable with respect to the axes of a shaft which is carried by a socket on a structure attached to the vehicle so that the shaft is capable of a limited rotary movement to enable the mould board to follow any transverse inclination, e.g. camber, or the surface under treatment. As shown in Fig. 4, the flexible mould board 20 is sandwiched between rigid members 21, 22 and may be angularly adjusted relative to the line of travel by means of the locking pin 33 which passes through the arms 31 and holes 30 in the semi-circular plate 29 attached to the member 21. The arms 31 carry a short Shaft 34 which is received by a socket 37 and held in position by a pin 38 passing throug a hole in the shaft 34 and a slot 37a in the socket 37 to permit a limited rotary movement of the shaft the socket being attached to legs 35 which in turn are connected to the drawbar 36 by links 39. Modifications are shown in Figs. 5, 8 and 11, the first having two mould boards carried in sockets on a transverse member 41 itself carried in the socket 37, the second showing the two legs 35 adapted for connection to the hydraulically operated lift arms of a tractor and the third showing two overlapping mould boards attached to a sub-frame 41 to be underslung on a vehicle chassis.
