Abstract

826,301. Collapsible barges. ESSO RESEARCH & ENGINEERING CO. July 14, 1958 [Sept. 25, 1957(2)], Nos. 30075 /57 and 30076/57. Class 113. A buoyant collapsible container 1 for a liquid of density less than water has a closed collapsible bag fixed to the skin of the container and filled with water to inhibit rolling. The bag may be affixed to the outside of the container ; in Fig. 3, the bag 3 is affixed internally ; and in Fig. 4, the bag 5 extends the length of the container. Straight rigid tubes or bars 7 attached to the outside of the container by attachments 8, 9 inhibit " snaking " of the container when being towed. The outside of the container may be supported by a net of manila or other material.
