Abstract
823,587. Gauging &c. milling &c. cutters. SANDVIKENS JERNVERKS A.B. June 6, 1957 [June 7, 1956], No. 18075/57. Class 83 (3). A device for setting or gauging the position of the blade 16 in a milling &c. cutter 19<SP>1</SP> comprises means 11, 13, 17 for supporting the cutter for rotation about its axis, with the axis inclined at an acute angle to the vertical, and a gauge 15 co-operating with each blade 16 in turn. The top plate 13 of the device of variable or, as depicted, fixed inclination is formed with a number of holes 14 to receive a centre pin of the pivot 17, which bears in the bore of the cutter. Pins or rollers 20-22, one of which is adjustable, as by screw 25, to raise the cutter if it is required to move one of the blades 16 out of the path of the interchangeable gauge 15, are mounted selectively in holes 23, 24 in the plate 13, and bear against the underside of the cutter. The pins 20-22 may be omitted if the pivot 17 is of larger diameter, as shown in chain-dotted lines at 18. For setting a blade, the blade is allowed to fall into position against the gauge 15 and a surface or screw &c. on the cutter, and is secured in the cutter, as by screws. The settings may be checked by a dial guage 26 on either side of the gauge 15, the operating pin 27 of the dial contacting the blades of the cutter.
