Abstract

822,321. Pivoted pad bearings. ENTICKNAP, A. May 4, 1956 [Feb. 4, 1955], No. 22667/54. Class 12 (1). A pivoted pad thrust bearing comprises an annular member 11 having its bearing-surface subdivided by slits 12 thus forming a plurality of pads 14 which are connected to the body of the member 11 by thin and flexible neck portions 15 formed between radial conical holes 13 in the member 11. The neck portions 15 are offset relative to the centres of area of the pads 14. In a modification the invention is applied to a reciprocating slipper, such as a connecting-rod crosshead guide, the apertures 13 being plain drilled holes.
