Classes 97(1) and 98(1) The supporting wall of a lens mount is attached directly to a photographic camera and surrounds and supports a shutter housing and holds at least one element of the lens system. As shown, a back plate 28 and a tubular portion 32 having an integral front flange 34 may be joined by screws 31 (Fig. 5) to form the supporting wall or, alternatively, the back plate 28 may be integral with the tubular portion 28b and may have a front plate 32b joined thereto. by means of screws 31b (Fig. 6). A shutter housing 10 having a base plate 14 and front and rear lens barrels 16, 12 is mounted in the supporting wall by means of its rear lens barrel 12 secured by ring 30 (Fig. 6) or, alternatively, the rear lens barrel is omitted and the housing is mounted by screws 30a (Fig. 5), the rear lens element being carried directly by plate 28. In the forms described in which the front lens element 72 is detachable by means of a bayonet joint 80, 82 (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) and Fig. 6, the front lens barrel 16 carries middle lens element 70. In the other forms (Fig. 4, not shown, and Fig. 5), the middle lens element 70 is secured to the front flange by screwthread 34a. The supporting wall is detachably mounted by bayonet lugs 128a in Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) and Fig. 5 and is secured to the camera body 62 by screws 60 in Fig. 2 (not shown) and Fig. 6. The front lens element 70 is movable axially by screw-thread 76 for focusing. Member 22 co-operates with shutter speed adjusting ring 38 to adjust the shutter mechanism disposed in annular space 18 and member 26 co-operates with diaphragm aperture adjusting ring 50. The rings 38 and 50 are normally coupled for compensating adjustments of the shutter speed and diaphragm aperture by the engagement of tooth 48 in notches 46 under the action of leaf springs 58. Axial slot 56c extending to the end of tubular portion 28b (Fig. 6) allows member 26 to be placed during assembly, in its transverse slot 56b, the assembly of the supporting wall being then completed by the addition of plate 32b.
