Classes 20(3), 20(4) and 87(1) [Also in Groups VII and XV] An integral unit of transparent synthetic plastics material for use in pictures, puzzles, windows or decorative displays comprises a base having a flat lower surface and an upper surface provided with upstanding ridges which join one another and together form a series of compartments delineating a picture or design, the arrangement being such that marking material may be applied to the upper edges of the ridges for marking out the picture or design on to a flat surface. If marking ink is applied to the ridges the unit may be used for marking out material such as fabric which is subsequently placed in the compartments. Alternatively the compartments may be filled with liquid, granular or mouldable material. The top edges of the ridges may be notched and the compartments may be of varying depth to form an intaglio effect when viewed through the base. A transparent or opaque lid may be provided having a flat top and projections underneath, the projections being so shaped that they fit within the compartments, the gaps between the projections receiving the tops of the ridges. In an example, the word TWEEDS is depicted by the different compartments and each compartment is filled with a piece of tweed material.
