821,497. Luminescent screens for cathoderay tubes. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. June 6, 1958, No. 18147 /58. Drawings to Specfication. Class 39(1). In a method of forming a lacquer layer on the phosphor screen of a cathode-ray tube prior to forming a metallic layer, by applying a lacquer solution to a bed liquid from which the phosphor is settled, or to a bed liquid introduced for the purpose, the bed liquid is introduced in such manner as not to wet the walls of the tube above the level of the bed liquid in order to prevent the formation of a secondary film of lacquer on the walls of the bulb. The walls of the tube are first dried by washing with acetone and flushing with clean dry compressed air. The bed liquid is introduced through suitably shaped delivery tubes.
