Class 24 A divided chain link is provided with flat surfaces 7 so that when two such links are joined with the surfaces 7 in contact there' is no tendency for the links to spring apart under tension. The surfaces 6 may be as shown in Fig. 2 for ease of assembly, or flat, or convex. The links may be of resilient metals such as brass or aluminium alloys, or of synthetic resins such as polystyrene resin or cellulose acetate. Holes or recesses may be provided for lightening, and provision may be made for adding decorative material. A chain may be composed entirely of pairs of such links, or they may be used in pairs to join lengths of closedlink chain.
