[Also in Group XXXVI] Apparatus for determining the average value of a deviation comprises means for converting the deviation into a proportional voltage which is fed to an integrating motor whose revolutions are counted during a predetermined time interval, automatically corrected in accordance with variations in the supply voltage. As shown (Fig. 1), the secondary winding of a transformer 11 is rotated to give a voltage lx proportional to an angle which is to be averaged. The voltage lx is added to a fixed voltage lo and fed to a first motor 31, the voltage lo being separately fed to a second motor 32. The two motors are coupled through differential gear 4 so that the speed of the output shaft 51 is proportional to lx. Shaft 51 drives a contact device 61, controlling a relay 71, and a pointer 91. The voltage lo also drives a third motor 33 and a contact device 62, controlling a relay 72. Initially, relay 72 is energized over switch 82 and closes the energizing circuits for the three motors, whereby the pointer 91 is driven in accordance with the value of lx for the period of a complete revolution on device 62, the pointer then showing the average value of lx during that period. In another embodiment (Fig. 2), the pointer 91 indicates the average value of the displacement of the slider 111 of a potentiometer 11 from its central position.
