Abstract
820,813. Rectifying. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Dec. 17, 1956 [Jan. 12, 1956], No. 38376/56. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XL (c)] A push-pull transistor inverter circuit of the type comprising a feedback transformer arranged to render the transistors alternately conducting, has a time constant circuit connected in the input circuit of each transistor to permit the input current to be initially high but to cause it thereafter to decrease. In the circuit shown the two transistors 10, 10<SP>1</SP> are connected to a transformer having a primary winding 36, 37, a feedback winding 62, 63 and an output winding 100. The feedback winding is connected to the bases of the transistors through time constant circuits 66, 68 and 74, 76 which permit the initial feedback current to be high but thereafter reduce it to a safe value for the transistors. A resistor 90 ensures that oscillation starts when the circuit is switched on. The output winding is connected to a fullwave rectifier 94 and smoothing circuit 108, 110, 112. The circuit may use junction or point contact transistors.
