Abstract

Aqueous liquids containing spores of bacteria are chemically sterilized and sterile aqueous liquids prepared by adding b -propiolactone, preferably in the concentration 0.5 to 0.001% by weight. Canned foods which contain water, particularly vegetables, are so sterilized.
