Abstract

Shaped articles, e.g. filaments, consisting essentially of polymers of mono-ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbons, e.g. ethylene and propylene, with up to 5 per cent by weight of one or more salts or esters of phosphorous acid, are prepared by extruding the molten composition. Sodium phosphite or triphenyl phosphite may be used and filaments, for example extruded at a temperature of 320-330 DEG C., and stretched to 8.8 times its original length, possess improved resistance to actinic rays.
